Job description
Position Overview
The Lifeguard role involves monitoring swimmers to quickly identify those who may need rescue, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of guests at the swimming facility. The incumbent observes conditions for hazards and unsafe behaviors, upholds facility rules, and supports guests' ability to participate safely. Immediate assistance to injured guests is provided until professional medical help arrives, alongside maintaining a welcoming, relaxed environment.
Key Duties
- Employ rescue techniques to assist swimmers in distress.
- Monitor the aquatic area for dangers, unusual or risky activities.
- Advocate and enforce recreation center regulations.
- Inform supervisors about safety concerns and guest participation limitations.
- Provide first aid and support injured guests until EMS arrives.
- Foster an enjoyable, calm atmosphere for visitors.
- Maintain pool cleanliness by handling towels and cleaning the deck per procedure.
- Report incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management promptly.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Uphold company policies, safeguard proprietary information, and protect assets.
- Greet and assist guests professionally, including those with disabilities, ensuring uniform and appearance standards.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with others.
- Support coworkers respectfully and comply with quality standards.
- Inspect equipment to identify defects and maintain operational safety.
- Physically respond appropriately by moving, standing, or walking as necessary.
- Handle physical tasks such as lifting weights up to 50 pounds unaided and heavier with help.
- Perform physical actions including bending, twisting, stooping, reaching overhead and below knees, and navigating uneven surfaces.
- Complete other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Minimum education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- No prior experience or supervisory background required.
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Fitness equipment proficiency.
- Compliance with any local/state mandates and certifications.
