Role overview
Boots UK is looking for a Dispenser to join the in-store pharmacy team in Shrewsbury, England. In this position, you will help pharmacists and other healthcare colleagues deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently. The role is centered around patient care, accurate medicine supply, and supporting customers with practical health advice.
You will work in the store’s healthcare area, building trust with patients by understanding their needs and guiding them through prescription services and over-the-counter medicine decisions. Day to day, the job involves a mix of dispensing tasks, customer interaction, and support for pharmacy operations.
This is an on-site position based in the UK. Remote working is not available. Applications from outside the UK will only move forward if valid UK qualifications and the right to work can be confirmed with evidence.
Compensation
The pay rate is £13.92 per hour, rising to as much as £16.64 per hour in selected London locations.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while ensuring medicines are supplied safely, including ordering stock, labelling items, endorsing prescriptions, and handling prescription collection.
- Work alongside pharmacy and healthcare colleagues to support the delivery and management of pharmacy services in store.
- Offer patients guidance on medicines and direct more complex questions to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to keep dispensing activities safe and legally compliant.
- Stay current with new in-store processes and operational changes, and carry them out correctly.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions efficiently, support better adherence, and reduce medicine waste.
- Use evolving in-store technology and systems that improve dispensing workflows and free up more time for patient support.
What the role requires
- A completed Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or equivalent, or current progress toward one with at least the first year of an MPharm degree completed.
- A valid right to work in the UK.
- Understanding that the role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
- Experience in a community pharmacy setting is desirable.
