Director Data Scientist

Role Overview

We are seeking an accomplished leader to drive the deployment of innovative AI and Generative AI solutions for major global clients in the Telecommunications and Financial Services sectors. This role focuses on the technical delivery of AI projects rather than sales, working closely with business leaders to address challenges through AI implementations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead diverse teams comprising Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers, and AI Architects.
• Design and manage enterprise-scale machine learning and Generative AI initiatives from concept to production deployment.
• Promote best practices in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, AI Agents, Prompt Engineering, MLOps, Responsible AI, and Model Governance.
• Guide strategic architectural decisions integrating cloud AI platforms and contemporary AI ecosystems.

Industry Focus

Develop AI applications tailored to either:

• Telecommunications: Customer Value Management, Churn Prediction, Next Best Action, Network Analytics, Customer Experience, Personalisation, Revenue Optimisation.
• Financial Services: Fraud Detection, Credit Risk, Customer Analytics, Wealth Management, Insurance Analytics, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Personalisation, Intelligent Operations.

Practice Leadership

• Mentor senior data scientists and technical leaders to foster growth.
• Develop AI delivery frameworks and reusable tools to enhance efficiency.
• Set technical standards for AI and Generative AI projects.
• Hire and build a world-class AI talent pool.

Qualifications and Experience

• Masters or Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Between 12 to 15+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence.
• At least 5 years managing large-scale enterprise AI consulting projects.
• Proven success delivering AI programs for substantial Telecommunications or Financial Services companies.
• Experienced in leading sizeable consulting teams and handling complex client engagements.
• Adept at engaging with executive leadership and board members.
• Strong commercial acumen with a background in business development and driving revenue growth.
