About the Role
The Assistant Manager - Training is responsible for supporting the identification and resolution of employee and organizational development requirements. This role ensures effective training programs are established to drive desired business outcomes, focusing on topics such as product knowledge, company philosophy, customer service, and leadership skills. The position involves conducting needs assessments, developing training content, delivering both customized and corporate training programs, and evaluating training effectiveness to ensure a positive return on investment.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and communicate available training opportunities to employees.
- Demonstrate leadership in hospitality and customer service, fostering a welcoming environment for guests.
- Assist employees in recognizing behaviors that enhance service quality.
- Ensure continuous employee training to meet or exceed guest expectations.
- Utilize effective training techniques to ensure comprehension of guest satisfaction principles and ability to apply them.
- Regularly coordinate with the training team to support ongoing training efforts.
- Observe employee service behavior and provide constructive feedback to individuals and management.
- Track training attendance and participation.
- Engage with trainees to monitor progress and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to evaluate employees' technical and leadership skills.
- Analyze guest feedback and other relevant data to identify training improvement areas.
- Measure how well training is transferred to actual job performance.
- Incorporate principles of adult learning into training methodologies.
- Identify performance gaps and partner with managers to develop targeted training solutions.
- Make adjustments to training approaches and re-train as necessary.
- Align training programs with key business indicators for maximum impact.
- Set clear expectations and guidelines for employees participating in training.
- Develop specialized training programs aimed at enhancing service delivery.
- Embed brand values and company philosophy into all training activities.
- Use guest satisfaction metrics as a discussion point in departmental meetings to drive continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the preparation and management of the training department's budget.
- Help monitor departmental expenses in accordance with financial goals and control measures such as procurement cards.
Qualifications
- Either a 2-year degree in Human Resources, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field with at least 1 year of relevant professional experience and certified trainer qualification, or
- A 4-year bachelor's degree in the above fields with certification as a trainer and no prior work experience necessary.
