Role overview
This opportunity sits within Fidelity Canada’s flexible working model and is carried out entirely from home. The company has spent more than 35 years supporting Canadian investors with investment solutions and related services, while continuing to modernize and improve how it serves clients.
The organization is privately held and places a strong emphasis on innovation, growth, and creating meaningful impact for clients and the wider community. Team members work in an inclusive environment designed to help them grow personally and professionally.
Business context
The technology group supports a broad portfolio that includes Fidelity Canada’s core transfer agency and workflow platforms, along with internet-facing and digital application systems. This role will concentrate mainly on core systems, while also giving exposure to neighboring teams and platforms. The successful hire will contribute to modernization efforts and build a deep understanding of the current environment to help uncover improvements and shape future-state designs.
What the role involves
This is a full-stack development position for someone who can work across the entire software lifecycle and move comfortably between front-end and back-end work. You will partner with architects and developers to build and support Fidelity Canada’s web properties.
- Design, build, install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain software applications, while producing the associated documentation.
- Help protect application security and support secure operation of related systems.
- Work with business stakeholders and take part in scrum ceremonies and team collaboration.
Candidate profile
The role calls for a university degree, ideally in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. A successful candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience as a full-stack developer and a strong working knowledge of modern web and enterprise technologies, including React or Angular, Java, Spring or Spring Boot, REST and SOAP APIs, JavaScript, HTML, HTML5, XHTML, CSS, CSS3, jQuery, and SQL or PL/SQL.
Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and end-to-end SDLC work through production release and support is important. Experience in investment or mutual fund environments would be an advantage, as would using artificial intelligence creatively to solve problems.
Applicants must already have valid work authorization for Canada.
Skills and strengths
The right person should bring strong communication skills, sharp attention to detail, and a practical, inventive approach to solving technical problems. They should be comfortable working independently while contributing effectively within a team, and should have enough technical depth to advise, challenge, and support engineering decisions. A commitment to continuous learning and keeping pace with evolving technology is also important.
Compensation and benefits
The total rewards package includes an annual base salary range of CAD 101,000 to CAD 118,000, along with a discretionary performance bonus. After six months of employment, the company also contributes to an RRSP without requiring employee matching.
Additional benefits include flexible working arrangements, with 100% remote, hybrid, and office-based options available; comprehensive health coverage starting on day one with full employer-paid premiums; up to CAD 5,000 per year for mental health services and therapy; parental leave top-up to 100% of salary for 25 weeks; up to CAD 650 for home office equipment; and a generous time-off policy that includes two paid volunteering days each year.
The organization also supports employee resource groups, diversity and inclusion programs, professional development with access to more than 11,000 training and development courses, tuition reimbursement, and monetary rewards for completing a required designation.
