Senior Software Engineer - Backend

About the Role

A rapidly growing Irish SaaS company is strengthening its engineering team and seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to help advance their core platform. This role is central in a product-focused, cloud-native setting where backend system design, performance, and scalability are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, create, and enhance high-performance Java-based RESTful web services and containerized microservices supporting an advanced analytics platform for global clients.
• Develop and manage containerized applications utilizing Docker and Kubernetes, with a preference for Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Contribute towards secure identity and access management solutions, with experience in Keycloak seen as beneficial.
• Collaborate closely with data engineering teams to handle complex data sets effectively.
• Promote best practices across code quality, performance optimization, and software architecture.
• Provide support for cloud infrastructure hosted on Microsoft Azure.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of six years' professional experience in software engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in Java and backend system architecture.
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes, especially AKS.
• Solid understanding of SQL and database systems.
• Proven track record in building and scaling production-level systems.
• Strong analytical skills with ease working in data-intensive environments.
• Capability to mentor peers and influence technical decisions.
