Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Fitter to join our Hamilton Manufacturing team on the Afternoon Shift, working from 3:30pm to 12:00am, Monday through Friday. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role focuses on maintaining and repairing plant machinery, facilities, and infrastructure to guarantee optimal functionality, safety, and reliability. You will be instrumental in assisting production teams to meet their scheduling and delivery goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance according to set plans.
- Promptly address equipment breakdowns and execute necessary repairs.
- Diagnose machine faults and propose improvements to enhance reliability.
- Document maintenance and repair activities using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Support continuous improvement and Lean/5S initiatives.
- Engage in Practical Problem Solving (PPS) and root cause analyses.
- Generate purchase orders and collect quotes for mechanical jobs.
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors, production staff, and external contractors.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, organized, and high-performing workplace environment.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, trade-qualified fitter who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You approach challenges with foresight, apply structured problem-solving techniques, and take pride in sustaining reliable plant operations.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Certification at Level 4 in Fitting, Diagnostics, Maintenance, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a trade-qualified maintenance role within manufacturing.
- Proficient mechanical fault diagnosis skills.
- Experience with Plastics Injection Moulding Machines, hydraulics, pneumatics, machining, or fabrication is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Lean methodologies and PPS/root cause analysis.
- Capability to work independently while managing time effectively.
- Competent IT skills, with experience in Excel or SAP being a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
