Role Overview

Join Cloud Imperium Games in Frankfurt as a Lead Level Designer, collaborating closely with the Art team to develop immersive locations and sandbox environments for the expansive Star Citizen universe. Your contributions will range from designing intimate outposts to sprawling cities across various planets and star systems, integrating gameplay and artistic vision to bring the universe vividly to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner directly with Game Directors to lead the creation and refinement of unique, engaging in-game locations.
• Serve as a vital connection between Design and Environment teams, ensuring spaces meet gameplay excellence and visual believability.
• Actively contribute hands-on to delivering high-quality levels, maintaining a balance between detailed execution and overarching design vision.
• Lead design discussions, fostering a creative and inclusive team environment that empowers colleagues.
• Incorporate feedback from Game Directors and senior management to elevate quality standards consistently.
• Support tool and workflow improvements by identifying challenges and proposing enhancements.
• Mentor team members and positively influence the working culture.

Experience and Skills Expectations

• Proven professional background as a senior or lead level designer on at least one large-scale first-person shooter or third-person action game.
• Strong artistic sensibility including an understanding of art composition and architectural principles to build realistic and engaging environments.
• Competence in visual scripting concepts to integrate gameplay mechanics effectively.
• Ability to prepare and present design proposals for peer feedback and review processes.
• Highly focused, motivated, and capable of seeing tasks through to completion.
• Proactive and well-organized with solid problem-solving skills.
