Role Overview
We are seeking a commercially savvy and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team at Tarmac, located at our Cross Green Contracting site in Leeds. This full-time, onsite position offers a competitive salary, company car, bonus scheme, and excellent benefits. The role is ideal for someone passionate about analysing opportunities, constructing competitive bids, and securing major highway infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Commercial Manager and business teams in achieving commercial targets and growth objectives by managing the entire tendering and pricing process from initial enquiry to submission.
- Prepare precise, competitive, and high-quality tender proposals.
- Evaluate financial, contractual, operational, and technical risks associated with projects.
- Assist in creating a robust pipeline of future business opportunities.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with clients, customers, and stakeholders.
- Review completed tenders to extract lessons learned and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
- Contribute to the delivery of both regional and national commercial strategies.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive commercial and estimating experience in Highways, Surfacing, Civils, or Infrastructure sectors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with excellent organisation skills.
- Commercially aware with strategic business thinking.
- Effective communicator capable of engaging a variety of stakeholders.
- Able to meet tight deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
- Proficient in IT and comfortable using estimating software systems.
- Detail-oriented, logical, and process-driven approach to work.
- Degree-level qualification or significant relevant industry experience.
- Capable of assessing both financial and contractual risks confidently.
