Where It All Started My name is Komal, and I'm a final-year B.Tech Computer Science Engineering student at G.H. Raisoni University, graduating in 2027. If I had to describe myself in one line, I'd say I'm a builder — someone who genuinely enjoys creating things, breaking them apart to understand how they work, and then rebuilding them better. That cycle of build, break, rebuild sits at the core of my entire journey into tech. My interest lies specifically in full stack web development, and what draws me to this field is watching an idea that starts as nothing more than a thought slowly turn into a real, usable, live product that people can actually open on their screens, interact with, and use to solve real problems. Clicking a button, submitting a form, having that data save to a database, and then seeing that same data appear correctly on another page — these things most people take for granted, but the logic, architecture, and problem-solving happening underneath is exactly what excites me the most. Academically, I currently hold a 9.03 CGPA, which reflects consistency, but the more meaningful part of my journey hasn't happened in exam halls — it's happened in code editors late at night, staring at a red error message that refuses to make sense, googling the exact same error for the fifth time, and then finally understanding not just the fix, but why the fix works. My Technical Foundation Over the past year or so of intermediate-level, hands-on development, I've built a solid working foundation across the MERN stack. I'm comfortable with React.js for building interactive, component-based frontends, Node.js and Express.js for building backend servers and APIs, and MongoDB for handling data storage in a flexible, document-based way. Alongside these, I have strong fundamentals in HTML and CSS, which I consider non-negotiable — no matter how advanced the framework, if you don't understand the underlying structure and styling principles, you're just copying patterns without real understanding. I use Git and GitHub regularly, not just as a backup mechanism but as an actual part of my workflow — branching, committing meaningfully, and treating version control as a habit rather than an afterthought. Working independently on most of my projects has forced me to develop a certain kind of discipline: when there's no team to catch your mistakes, you learn to test thoroughly, document your own decisions, and debug patiently instead of panicking. I've also picked up TypeScript recently while working on one of my bigger projects, and that experience taught me a different way of thinking about code — moving from "does this work" to "does this work, and will it still work six months from now when I've forgotten why I wrote it this way." Type safety initially felt like an obstacle, throwing errors at me for things that "worked fine" in plain JavaScript, but I've come to appreciate how it catches mistakes before they reach production. Internship and Real-World Exposure More recently, I received and accepted a virtual internship offer from ShadowFox as a Full-Stack Developer, running through September 2026 as a one-month, unpaid program. While it doesn't carry a stipend, I approached it as a genuine opportunity to work within a structured program, complete weekly tasks, attend mentor sessions, and build toward a final project presentation — treating it with the same seriousness I would a paid role. Before this, I explored other pathways too, including looking into DRDO lab internships, where I initially found myself ineligible as I wasn't yet in my final year, and IIT and IISc research internship opportunities. I drafted outreach emails targeting computer vision, deep learning, and NLP/ML research labs, and was specifically advised to reach out to IIIT Hyderabad's CVIT lab. Not every avenue panned out, but the process taught me how to write cold outreach that doesn't sound generic, and how to handle the reality that most doors don't open on the first knock.
