About The Role

Nexon is looking for a qualified accountant to work within its Finance team in the Head Office located in Summer Hill (to be relocated to Sydney CBD in the near future). The role reports to the Group Finance Manager, and is primarily focussed on accounting for our Professional Services and Advisory practices.

Responsibilities

  • Reconciling revenue, cost of goods sold and margins for multiple projects.
  • Reconciling WIP and T&M invoicing.
  • End of month general journals and accounting adjustments.
  • Analysing and providing comments on variances for end of month performance reviews (vs actual, budget or forecast).
  • Reconciling affected Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Other ad hoc responsibilities, e.g. system enhancements and/or migration projects.
  • Suggesting improvements in systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support for decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting regulations and standards.

Personal Attributes

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Intermediate to high level excel skills in processing high volumes of data between subledger and main ledger systems.
  • Ability to learn quickly and utilise past experiences, knowledge and skills to this new position.
  • Good communication skills, growth mindset, hands-on attitude and a team player within the Finance team and with colleagues in operations.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Qualified accountant with solid understanding of revenue recognition accounting standards and principles.
  • Ideally, sector-specific experience in accounting for Revenue and COGS across Professional Services.
  • Establishing and monitoring controls in these processes.
  • Experience with Finance ERP systems (ideally Business Central or similar).
  • Ideally knowledge in reviewing financial data for variances and reporting on performance in an FP&A context (including using tools such as PowerBI).
