Hourly Lab/Research Technician – Dept. of Cellular, Molecular, and Genetic Medicine

Animal husbandry for zebrafish and mice will also be needed as well as laboratory maintenance.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process human DNA samples from blood, saliva and tissue
- Use ddPCR to look for mutations in human samples
- Collect mouse and fish tissue for DNA extraction and genotyping for PCR
- Animal husbandry for zebrafish and mice
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Pipetting
- Molecular biology techniques
- Working with mice and/or zebrafish
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Biological Science
- At least one year of research experience in a biology laboratory
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a hourly employee at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Zebrafish experience
- Mice experience
