Accelerate Learning was founded within Rice University and spun out into a stand-alone company in 2013. The company has grown from a single product, to a nationwide brand that now offers a variety of STEM curriculum and professional development solutions to support early learning, NGSS, and state-aligned Math and Science curriculum. STEMscopes was incubated in the classroom and developed by over 200 teachers, science experts, and science professors. Each summer the company hosts teachers for a writing camp to develop content and curriculums, field test lessons and assessment items, and review and edit all materials to ensure factual accuracy, so curriculums are current and practical for implementation in any type of classroom.
The STEMscopes program promotes collaboration, listening, and expression in a variety of styles through purposeful discussions that broaden students’ mindsets and encourage growth. The solutions provide a powerful, interactive curriculum that encourages students to rely on critical thinking, compelling reflection, and collaborative exploration within each scope.
Position Summary
Accelerate Learning is seeking a highly motivated leader passionate about the impact of STEM education and driven to make a difference. As the Professional Development Lead, you report directly to the Director of Professional Development and are responsible for ensuring quality, consistency, efficiency, and the highest level of service delivery and client satisfaction as possible. The ideal candidate will have science and/or mathematics teaching or administrative experience, strong presentation delivery and networking skills, and a proven track record of successfully leading teams. It will be necessary for this person to travel at least 35% of the time.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing regional professional development team.
- Hold the team to clear goals, targets, and metrics established by professional development leadership to drive performance and foster a culture of excellence, accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration.
- Deliver training, coaching, and support services in person and via webinar on all Accelerate Learning curriculum
- Implement a product certification program for National STEM Coaches
- Create contracts and approve expenses for 1099 contractors
- Maintain and build relationships with clients by providing support and guidance while recommending new opportunities for expansion
- Help drive development and creation of resources to assist teachers in being successful with ALI STEM products and services
- Oversee the distribution and delivery of all professional development activities; identify and manage PD plans pre and post-customer meetings.
- Ensure PD delivery is equitably assigned and appropriately forecasted and documented with accounting; effectively track and regularly communicate all PD delivery forecasts and team profitability; manage a regional budget.
- Provide customer feedback to the company and collaborate with other teams to ensure growth and success
- Provide presence and thought leadership at regional and national summits, conferences, and other events.
Position Qualifications
- 5+ years of classroom teaching and/or school administration experience
- 3+ years of upper management experience, with a proven track record of successfully leading teams by planning, motivating, and organizing the work being done
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding presentation delivery skills
- Ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships and credibility quickly; create a team atmosphere with staff at all levels
- Passion and dedication to the company’s mission and purpose
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft product suite (required) and Salesforce (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Education required; Master’s degree a plus
- 35 % travel required
