About The Role

We are currently seeking Learning Mentor to join our Student Services department at The Bedford College group.

As a Learning Mentor, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Attendance and Punctuality – Collect and record data; follow up with learners; communicate with parents; promote good attendance; reduce persistent absence; maintain records.
  • Behaviour Improvement – Mentor learners; support personal, social, and academic development; facilitate sessions for ‘at risk’ learners; liaise with stakeholders; update records and portals.
  • Reporting – Produce half-term reports on mentoring activities and progress of ‘at risk’ learners.
  • Team Work – Collaborate with teachers and support teams; plan and deliver one-to-one support; report to the manager.
  • Professional Values – Embrace development opportunities; maintain work-life balance; promote college values; safeguard learners; support college policies and procedures.

About You

  • Qualifications – GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade A-C) or equivalent; willingness to work towards Level 2 Safeguarding and Youth Mental Health First Aid.
  • Experience – Student support or related role; providing careers advice and guidance; working with young people and adults.
  • Skills – Verbal and written communication; organisational, interpersonal, and prioritisation skills; ability to work with vulnerable students; handle sensitive data confidentially.
  • Attributes – Ability to work alone and in a team; travel to campus locations; adapt working hours to business needs.
  • Knowledge – Awareness of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
