Job Description
The Process Engineer is responsible for providing support in the critical areas of the Distribution Center for Chick-fil-A Supply as well as providing implementation support for new Distribution Centers. This role will focus on understanding the needs of the business and overseeing the creation and implementation of new processes as well as enhancement of current process capabilities and methods by leveraging continuous improvement tools to align with the objectives of Business Excellence. The role will coordinate with subject matter experts and key stakeholders to create solutions, define performance goals and metrics, and implement these solutions, thereby creating/driving internal processes and systems to ensure appropriate due diligence is applied to business decisions.
A wholly owned subsidiary of Chick-fil-A, Inc., Chick-fil-A Supply is a distribution service network focused entirely on serving the unique needs and growing volume of Chick-fil-A restaurants. This position will provide multi-site, continuous improvement for our network.
The Chick-fil-A Supply distribution service network is comprised of three components:
- Distribution Center – State-of-the-art warehouses that house supply for Chick-fil-A restaurants
- Production Distribution Center – Offsite facilities that prepare select ingredients and menu items for Chick-fil-A restaurants
- Transportation – Growing fleet of delivery vehicles that supply Chick-fil-A restaurants
Responsibilities
- Identify inconsistencies and opportunities to scale processes across the distribution network
- Interface with DC personnel for process optimization
- Utilize lean standards to drive a culture of Continuous Improvement
- Provide leadership and support to Continuous Improvement initiatives at DC level including time studies to analyze work systems, developing standards and/or improvements to existing systems
- Provide leadership and support in the development and implementation of new distribution facilities, equipment, systems, and processes
- Provide leadership in gathering requirements and gaining alignment in how newly implemented processes, systems, or equipment will integrate with one another
- Develop training plans and train team members and DC Leaders on the implementation of new facilities, processes, systems, and equipment
- Implement labor standards to allow for labor management at each new facility that is launched
- Provide input for the development of functional layouts to minimize space and material transit distance
- Utilize simulation software to analyze and /or improve work systems
- Serve as main point of contact for capacity, process improvements tasks, and standard time inquiries for continuous improvement and new implementation activities
- Manage engineering function for assigned projects and activities including processes, work standards, equipment, and facilities
- Develop project scope, align with cross functional stakeholders, and identify schedule for all process related work
- Implement and sustain Lean Management System at the DC
- Create and manage waste reduction objectives at the DC level
- Support DC KPIs including service, quality, cost, and safety
- Lead all kaizen projects
- Provide training for Lean Management
- Optimize industrial processes from inception through startup
- Audit production line process and improve production rates, workflow, and quality
- Develop and revise SOPs, improve standard work for all positions, time studies, employee utilization and lean initiatives
- Participate in quality and safety audits
- Develop lessons learned and best practice systems, policies, and procedures to leverage across multiple areas within the business
- Develop a requirement gathering and requirement management process for CFAS
- Lead a cross functional team of SMEs to support requirement gathering across OGSM, new technology, and new facilities
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree Engineering
- 5+ years relevant business experience, Manufacturing in a plant/ Distribution Center preferred
- Excellent business communication and presentation skills
- Lean Deployment Experience in a multi-location organization
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with ERP Systems

- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
- Master’s in engineering
