What we’re looking for:

We are looking for an Executive Legal Assistant who excels in legal research, writing, and administrative support. This role is ideal for someone with a legal background who is tech-savvy, highly organized, and detail-oriented. As an Executive Legal Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting legal teams by conducting research, organizing case files, tracking billable hours, and assisting with basic legal drafting. This position requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to improving work efficiency through technology.

Responsibilities—what you’ll do:

  • Conduct in-depth legal research to support attorneys and case preparation.
  • Summarize findings, case laws, and relevant legal materials for easy reference.
  • Assist with basic legal drafting, including contracts, agreements, and correspondence.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical files to ensure accessibility and compliance.
  • Provide reminders for key deadlines and case-related tasks to attorneys and support staff.
  • Enter and maintain financial records, assisting with basic bookkeeping when required.
  • Identify and recommend new tools and services to streamline legal workflows.
  • Assist in managing document management systems and legal software for enhanced productivity.

Requirements:

  • Legal background or prior experience in a law firm, legal department, or similar environment
  • Experience with legal research databases
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and time-tracking tools for managing billable hours.
  • Familiarity with case management and document organization software
  • Strong writing skills with proficiency in Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and formatting legal documents.
  • Fully fluent in English
  • Ability to work U.S. business hours (Pacific Time, Central Time, or Eastern Time)
  • This position is for serious, career-oriented candidates

Other qualities we look for:

  • Basic bookkeeping knowledge and experience with QuickBooks or Xero is a plus.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, with the ability to summarize key findings effectively.
  • Tech-savvy and proactive in identifying tools that improve workflow efficiency.
  • Attention to detail in reviewing legal documents and tracking client-related work.
