Examples of Duties
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training of staff.
- Supervise, schedule, and evaluate part-time staff.
- Submit payroll for part-time staff bi-monthly.
- Answer the telephone and provide the public with needed information.
- Process program registration and reservations, and collects fees as needed.
- Provide on-site supervision of programs.
- Create new programs and budgets based on public needs.
- Develop marketing plans.
- Collaborate with local businesses on sponsorships and donations.
- Collect program evaluation data and prepare reports on the programs.
- Attend professional development workshops or conferences.
- Serve on departmental committees and attend meetings with local organizations.
- Open the facility, set up fields/facility for leagues, and perform maintenance.
- Complete incident and accident report forms as needed.
- Follow closing procedures and secure the facility before departure.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in recreation, physical education, leisure studies, or a closely related field; AND
- One year of recreation or related experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge Of
- principles, practices, and techniques of applicable recreation administration.
- customer service techniques.
- policies and regulations affecting the operation of an athletic center.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED techniques.
Skill in:
- using athletic tools and equipment.
- using office equipment, including computers and related software.
Ability To
- assist in planning, organizing, and supervising various activities.
- assist in creating game schedules and tournament brackets.
- assist in the training, supervising, and evaluating of staff.
- communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- meet the mental and physical demands of the position.
- work cooperatively with City officials, other employees, and the general public.
Special Requirements
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Must possess (or obtain within 90 days of hire) and maintain valid Red Cross First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications.
- Requires working a varied schedule to include most nights and weekends.
- Valid NC commercial driver’s license (CDL), preferred.
