About The Role
The City Data Analyst is a pivotal role focused on delivering valuable data, insights, and analytical services to both the branch and its customers. Responsible for sourcing, creating, managing, and analysing data, the City Data Analyst synthesises findings and presents them through visualisations and clear communication. This role is essential in monitoring the performance of the municipality, the Council, and various plans or strategies, helping to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

You will
- Manage and deliver key data and visualisation products, ensuring accurate analysis and presentation.
- Communicate findings to diverse audiences through visualisations, reports, and verbal updates, identifying efficiencies across data activities.
- Analyse ABS Census data and create reports, presentations, and visualisations for clear communication.
- Lead end-to-end project management, including brief development, stakeholder engagement, and project oversight.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to ensure collaboration.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, optimising processes, service quality, and turnaround times.
- Develop and implement delivery strategies for projects, including data acquisition and partnerships.
- Oversee contracts and manage contractors or consultants in compliance with procurement regulations.
What You Will Bring To The Role (selection Criteria)
- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or significant experience in disciplines such as social science, economics, mathematics, statistics, technology.
- Proficient skills in data analysis and interpretation, including experience using analytical and visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, R, Python, MS Excel or other similar tools.
- Working knowledge and skills in SQL, data grip, SharePoint, R Shiny and GIS are desirable.
- Experience in use of property, demographic, land use and sensor data is desirable.
- Demonstrated organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex projects simultaneously in an environment of short time frames and tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated numerical and problem-solving capabilities, with ability to generate appropriate solutions.
- Experience working in an agile environment, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross- functional and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Sound written and oral communication skills including the capacity to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
