We’re looking for a Director of Project Management to join a growing, dynamic agency that specializes in strategic communications, branding, and campaigns. This role is an opportunity for a highly experienced Senior Project Manager, an Associate Director of Project Management, or an equivalent PM leader to take ownership of building and strengthening the agency’s project management function. As the agency continues to scale, they’re looking for a leader who can bring structure, process, and efficiency while ensuring that creativity and strategic thinking remain at the forefront of their work.
Our client’s office is in Virginia, though a new office in Atlanta is planned for the following year, which is why they are eager to consider an Atlanta-based Director of PM. Until the ATL location opens, this Director of PM will have to work remotely. When the office opens, the expectation is four days a week in-office.
What You’ll Do
- Build & Lead: Establish best-in-class project management practices that improve workflows and ensure smooth execution across integrated campaigns, branding projects, and strategic communications.
- Mentor & Guide: Support and develop a team of project managers, providing leadership in managing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Partner with Clients & Teams: Work closely with clients, strategists, and creative teams to deliver exceptional work that aligns with business objectives.
- Optimize for Growth: Implement scalable processes that support the agency’s continued growth while maintaining a high standard of work.
- Problem-Solve & Adapt: Navigate challenges with a solutions-first mindset, keeping projects on track without sacrificing innovation or quality.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 8+ years of experience in agency project management (creative, branding, or strategic communications work preferred).
- Proven experience leading and mentoring teams, whether as a Senior PM with leadership responsibilities or in an Associate Director/Director-level role.
- Strong understanding of agency workflows, client relations, and cross-functional collaboration across strategy, creative, and production.
- Ability to create efficient, scalable processes while balancing flexibility and adaptability.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills—you know how to manage up, down, and across teams to get things done.
- A strategic mindset that helps elevate project management from a process role to an essential driver of agency success.
- Experience in or familiarity with values-driven organizations or clients—including those with a faith-based or mission-oriented focus—is a plus.

Location & Work Setup
- This role is based in Washington, D.C. and is structured as a hybrid position. Candidates must already be located in the D.C. metro area.
