The Opportunity

The City of St. John’s Waste and Recycling Division is currently seeking highly motivated and environmentally conscious individuals to form a Litter Collection Crew with the goal of cleaning up our city this summer. All are welcome to apply.

Accountabilities

The Litter Collector Crew consists of a team of Litter Collectors with an objective of cleaning up our city. Targeting public areas of high litter concentration, the crew will be responsible for collecting and disposing of the material found roadside and in open spaces.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Dependable and self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license would be considered an asset

Additional Requirements

  • Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Record Screening Certificate (or equivalent) – dated not more than six months prior to hire

Working Conditions

This position is required to work outside in all types of weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

This position requires physical stamina as the incumbent is required to perform repetitive tasks including twisting, bending, squatting and lifting in order to complete the duties.

Hours of Work

  • Start and end date: May 12 – August 1, 2025
  • Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • This position reports out of the Administration Building at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility (340 East White Hills Road)

Rate of pay effective April 1, 2025.
