Head of Sales Africa

As Head of Sales for Africa you will lead MoneyGram’s business operations across the region, driving strategic initiatives, fostering business growth, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. This role is pivotal in expanding MoneyGram’s presence by building strong partnerships and unlocking opportunities in key markets.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader and strategic thinker with a proven track record in sales, particularly within the Enterprise and Mid-Market sectors. You possess an entrepreneurial mindset, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for building and scaling new business ventures. You will play a key role in accelerating growth in a high-potential market while delivering outstanding results.

What You Will Do

  • Sales Strategy Leadership: Lead the development and execution of the Europe sales strategy, aligning with the company’s broader transformation goals, market expansion, and product evolution.
  • Revenue Growth: Drive significant revenue growth across African markets, focusing on both new partner acquisition and expanding existing partner relationships.
  • Market Expansion/Rationalization: Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities across the region, leading market entry strategies and scaling operations in underpenetrated areas. As needed, recommend market drawdowns and lead execution.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results-driven execution.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other Sales regions, Marketing, Product, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure alignment on go-to-market strategies, product offerings, and partner/customer experience enhancements.
  • P&L Ownership: Take responsibility for the regional P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to achieve sales targets and profitability.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Establish and nurture key partnerships with banks, financial institutions, fintech’s, and other stakeholders to strengthen market positioning.
  • Change Management: Lead the sales organization through the company’s strategic transformation, ensuring the team adapts to new processes, growth standards, and guardrails
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all sales activities in Europe comply with local and regional financial regulations, AML/KYC requirements, and industry standards, while managing risks associated with regulatory changes.

Who You Are

  • Proven experience in leading sales teams across multiple African markets within the financial services or fintech industry.
  • Strong track record of revenue growth, strategic leadership, and successful market expansions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience working with C-suite executives.
  • Deep understanding of the evolving African financial landscape, regulatory considerations, and customer behaviors.
  • Ability to navigate and lead through organizational change in a rapidly evolving business environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience leveraging data to optimize sales performance and drive business outcomes.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional African language(s).
  • Willingness to travel within the country and internationally as needed.
