Flexible Metal Inc. is a component supplier located in Tucker, GA. FMI specializes in product design, engineering, development and manufacturing of metal bellows, tubular assemblies, exhaust manifolds, and integrated exhaust systems.

We are hiring a Quality Engineer. This individual will be joining our team at our factory in Tucker Georgia.

The Quality Engineer’s role is to understand, interpret, and communicate customer expectations. Working within our Engineering and Leadership group, the Quality Engineer facilitates procedures and methodologies that meet those customer requirements.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain process controls and improvements. Create the process inspection requirements. Develop process check lists to ensure our manufacturing processes are running to suit requirements.
  • Verify that product is being inspection, as well as work instructions and procedures are being followed.
  • Thorough documentation of product and process activities.
  • Initiate rapid responses within the facility when internal and external concerns are identified.
  • Investigate robust solutions to internal and external concerns.
  • Work alongside the Quality Manager in re-structuring our Quality System. This will include creating and implementing improved standard procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in Internal Audit of our Management System. This will include understanding our documented Management System, evaluating against the relevant industry standards, creating audit objectives, interviewing the area leaders, collecting compliance evidence, and documenting audit findings.
  • Respond to non-compliance conditions. Lead immediate Containment Actions, followed by formal Corrective Action.
  • Lead our product containment / quality firewall activities.
  • Other tasks as requested by the Quality Manager, within the scope of the job description.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, support others in their efforts to continuously improve our site 5S.

Desired Qualifications

  • 5 to 6 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Internal Auditing within an IATF 16949 operation.
  • Understanding technical specifications and product drawings.
  • Experience with metal component manufacturing; forming, welding, assembly.
  • CQI-15 Experience would be a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout our value chain: with our external and internal Customers, as well as our diverse team at the facility.
  • Data-driven decision making.
  • Comfortable using contemporary digital platforms for QMS content management, improvement projects, corrective action, ERP, Sharepoint, MS Teams, and other MS Office Tools. Detailed documentation record keeping.

Physical Requirements

  • Use Personal Protective Equipment within the manufacturing facility. Safety glasses and gloves as needed.
  • Physical exertion may vary. May be required to regularly stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, frequently stand or walk around the work area, and lift or move objects up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and stay alert to potential hazards on the shop floor.
