Job Description

Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager reports to the Assistant Director of the IT PMO and is crucial for delivering software applications and infrastructure for Texas’s educational system. The role involves leading Agile software development teams through the SDLC to ensure timely project delivery, meeting legislative and strategic priorities, and requires strong leadership in Agile project management, preferably in education, while overseeing project staff and collaborating with stakeholders.

Essential Functions

The essential functions, each accounting for 20% of the role, include:

  • Developing and evaluating processes for consistent adherence, managing scope and schedule changes, and creating project budgets and plans.
  • Monitoring and measuring application quality, identifying improvement measures, and ensuring deliverables meet agreements and budget constraints.
  • Communicating with stakeholders, soliciting feedback, and building strong relationships.
  • Managing problems, resolving issues, identifying and mitigating risks, and motivating the team to take ownership and improve efficiency.
  • Articulating the application and technology roadmap and coordinating project initiation and planning to meet strategic commitments.

Minimum Required Experience:

  • 10 years working with software application teams, using SDLC, PMLC, and Agile Scrum methodology.
  • 5 years working with .NET applications.
