Job Overview
As the Transportation Manager, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing all transportation functions, including coordinating inbound and outbound logistics, managing a team of drivers and support staff, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. You will be key in planning, budgeting, and implementing transportation strategies that enhance the efficiency of our supply chain while reducing costs.
Your Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day transportation operations to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
- Develop and implement transportation strategies to improve cost-efficiency, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage transportation budgets, including cost analysis and forecasting to ensure financial efficiency.
- Hire, train, and supervise a team of drivers, dispatchers, and logistics personnel.
- Monitor maintenance schedules and ensure vehicles are compliant with safety standards.
- Negotiate contracts and establish relationships with third-party logistics providers, carriers, and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with all local, and federal transportation regulations.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and safety audits of the transportation team.
- Analyze transportation metrics and implement process improvements to drive productivity.
- Collaborate with other departments (such as operations, sales, and procurement) to ensure seamless coordination and logistics.
What Our Client Is Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in transportation management or logistics (minimum of 3 years of recent logistics experience).
- Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in transportation management software (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with route optimization software.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial management in transportation.
- Certification in transportation or logistics management (e.g., CTL, CLTD) is a plus.
