Job Purpose

Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission this person will serve as a support in the Office of Undergraduate Admission for the Assistant Directors of Admission. Will serve as a lead recruiter within the office.

Supervisory Accountability

This position may include supervision of Assistant Directors of Undergraduate Admission, seasonal readers, and/or admissions officers.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Experience within Higher Education
  • Plan recruitment travel and represent the university at in-territory recruitment events
  • Participates in the recruiting, evaluating and yielding of prospective students
  • Support the execution of the day-to-day operations of the admissions process including application launch, file reading, decision release, deposit submissions and matriculation
  • Creates and analyzes admissions data to drive strategic enrollment, interpreting reporting on admissions funnel, recruitment pipeline, effectiveness of recruitment initiatives, and progress toward overall enrollment goals
  • Coordinate and mange communication with prospective students and their families form assigned territory through email, phone calls, face to face meetings etc.
  • Building relationships through extensive interaction with prospective students and their families from assigned territory through email, phone calls, face to face meetings etc.
  • Create and lead on-going high school counselor relationships
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, maintaining professional networks and participating in professional organizations

  • Ability to implement multiple projects to successful completion
  • Knowledge of the application review process
  • Demonstrated track record in meeting recruitment goals in an educational or other related environment
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to the Assistant Directors of Undergraduate Admission as it pertains to specific job responsibilities
  • Ensure timely and effective application review
  • Manage an assigned geographic recruitment territory requiring 40% travel

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies to support admission and student recruitment
  • Exceptional public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and able to build solid working relationships
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to travel domestically on a regular basis

Work Environment

  • In person, not eligible for hybrid or remote status
  • On Howard University main campus
  • 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday, weekends, and evenings as necessary
  • 50% travel during peak travel season

Compliance Salary Range Disclosure

Expected Pay Range: $68,181 – $75,000
