Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Support Specialist to assist in back-office operations for a California-based legal practice. The role involves supporting the preparation of pleadings, notices, and other legal documents for routine default matters, including replevin, evictions, collection cases, title claims, and title curative matters. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of legal processes, ensuring compliance with local rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of pleadings, notices, and other legal documents related to routine default matters, including replevin, evictions, collection cases, title claims, and title curative matters.
- Review and ensure all legal documents comply with applicable local rules and regulations.
- Confirm that appropriate parties are served with pleadings and notices in a timely manner.
- File pleadings and notices with relevant courts and agencies, ensuring adherence to deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Coordinate and monitor the service of legal pleadings and notices to ensure compliance with statutory and procedural rules.
- Organize and maintain case files, legal documents, and related correspondence.
- Provide administrative support to the legal team, including drafting and reviewing basic legal documents and assisting with case management tasks.
- Assist in tracking case deadlines, ensuring timely filings, and coordinating communication with clients and court personnel.
- Perform other back-office legal support tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of California legal procedures, particularly related to default matters such as replevin, evictions, and collections.
- Familiarity with legal software and tools for case management, document preparation, and filing (e.g., LexisNexis, Clio, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documents.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience in a legal support or paralegal role is preferred but not required.
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Paralegal certification or legal assistant experience is a plus.
- Prior experience in California legal matters, specifically default cases, replevin, evictions, collections, or title-related issues, is highly desirable.
