The starting annual salary for this full-time School Teacher position ranges from $61,838 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

The teacher must be able to create inquiry/project-based learning experiences that explore big ideas and concepts allowing students to thrive within an environment of complex knowledge construction as opposed to simple information assignments. Students will be expected to demonstrate learning in authentic ways beyond the four walls of a classroom and teachers will facilitate this as an integral part of the assessment cycle. This position is designed for a forward thinking, collaborative educator who thrives in a team environment and is willing to continue to operate on the leading edge of education and adjust practice accordingly.

The successful applicant will teach Math 11 Pre-Calculus, Physics 11, and LSS.

  • This opportunity is a temporary UFN contract, which is subject to change or cancel before June 27, 2025. In the event the teacher returns to work (work-hardening, part-time, full-time) before the end of the school year, the duration and/or FTE of this temporary assignment will be amended. The successful applicant must accept the reduced work week (amended to a part-time contract) but will have the option to remain in a temporary 1.0 FTE contract by working as a Priority TTOC on other days until June 27, 2025 .

Education & Experience

  • Major/minor or diploma in Inclusive Education (aka Special Education), Mathematics, Physics
  • Practicum and/or work experience in Inclusive Education at the Secondary level
  • Case management experience required
  • Training and experience with Level B Assessments ( ie . KBIT2/KTEA III)
  • Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification
  • Experience teaching Mathematics and Physics at the Secondary level
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
