Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering:
Develop primary design concepts, equipment / overall substation layouts
Prepare and review single-line diagrams (SLD), general arrangement (GA), protection schematics, interconnection drawings, and cable schedules.
Perform /evaluate busbar calculations, short-circuit studies, grounding system design, lightning protection, and MV Cable sizing calculations.
Ensure technical compliance with IEC, IEEE, DEWA, TRANSCO, SEC, and other regional utility standards.
Evaluate and approve vendor technical submittals, specifications, and equipment selections for substation equipment.
Project Execution & Site Support
Provide engineering support at project sites.
Coordinate with civil, MEP, protection, and SCADA teams to ensure proper interdisciplinary engineering coordination prior to document submissions
Project Coordination & Documentation
Collaborate with project managers, consultants, and clients to ensure timely completion of substation design and execution.
Participate in design review meetings, technical discussions, and risk assessments.
Prepare technical reports, design calculations, BOQs, and progress updates for stakeholders.
Ensure proper documentation of design changes, as-built drawings, and commissioning reports.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
7+ years of experience in substation primary design, project engineering, and site execution.
Strong knowledge of substations.
Experience in working with utilities, EPC contractors, and power transmission projects.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
Willingness to travel to project sites across the Middle East & Africa as required.
