The Rural City of Wangaratta is looking for a passionate Town Planner to join our Statutory Planning Unit. About The Role
As a Town Planner in our Statutory Planning Unit, you will play a crucial role in providing professional, administrative, and customer service support to both our team and the local community. You’ll work on a broad range of planning applications and provide general planning advice to internal and external customers. Additionally, you will assist the team with planning compliance initiatives, making this a dynamic and impactful role.
The team covers a diverse range of planning work, from agricultural and industrial development to tourism and residential growth areas, all set at the gateway to the stunning Victorian High Country.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Providing timely and accurate advice on planning queries to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Assessing VicSmart and less complex planning applications with attention to detail and efficiency.
- Managing and processing new planning permit applications, as well as subdivision certifications.
- Contributing to administrative tasks to support the efficient operation of the planning unit.
- Participating in process improvements and enhancing the planning service delivery.
- Offering high-quality customer service and addressing community planning concerns.
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about planning and committed to delivering top-tier service in a regional setting. Whether you’re a recent graduate or have experience in planning, we’re interested in hearing from you. You’ll have:
- A Diploma in Planning (or be working towards one), or at least 3 years of experience in a planning environment.
- Proficiency in office and screen-based equipment, including MS Office.
- A solid understanding of planning principles, with a keen interest in continuous learning and development.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills, and the ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
- A current driver’s license and the ability to undertake site visits as required.
