We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in procurement, with a preference for those who have worked in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing vendor relationships, ensuring timely procurement of materials, and maintaining cost-effective purchasing strategies to support production and operational needs.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best pricing, quality, and terms.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply chain operations.
  • Manage purchase orders from creation to delivery, ensuring timely receipt of materials and services.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with internal departments to fulfill purchasing requirements.
  • Track vendor performance, resolve any supply issues, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align purchasing strategies with business goals.
  • Analyze purchasing data, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support continuous improvement initiatives while improving or maintaining margins and deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all procurement activities.

Requirements

  • Strong sense of urgency, and flexibility with changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to analyze data and make strategic purchasing decisions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and adjust based on business or client needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sage Intacct, Expensify, and Salesforce is preferred
  • Experience in raw materials, components, or commercial/building supplies purchasing.
  • Familiarity with supply chain management principles and lean manufacturing practices.

Education And Experience

  • 1-3 years of commercial or wholesale purchasing/procurement experience.
  • Associates degree preferred.
