Job Description
Responsibilities
- Responsible for complete design, detail and coordination for small shop fabrication jobs.
- Communicates and attends meetings with the customer for clarity of direction in project objectives.
- Conducts field measurement of existing equipment and building details where required to interface or interconnect with the new equipment or structure, with assistance of field personnel.
- Communicates with the Project Manager during the development of the approval drawing to ensure customer’s objectives are being met with the proposed design.
- Submits Request for Information (RFI’s) to the Project Manager for resolution when required.
- Revises approval drawings as required by customer’s comments, with approval of the Project Manager.
- After approval; develops all mechanical, structural, pneumatic, hydraulic, and piping details necessary for completion of the shop drawings, using standard formats for mechanical equipment and structural steel, AWS weld symbols, ANSI pneumatic and hydraulic symbols, or the customer’s standard formats as directed by the Project Manager.
- Issues cutting lists and drawings to the Shop Foreman, with approval of the Project Manager, using the appropriate Release Form.
- Issues requests for Stock Checks to the Shop
- Issues Purchase Materials Forms to the Project Manager to purchase required raw materials, fasteners and commercial parts necessary for completion of the project.
- Issues drawings to the Project Manager to be used by field
- Answers questions regarding any drawing issues.
- Maintains a record of all drawings currently in the shop, marked-up to indicate as-built changes. Modifies drawings for prior to closing job.
- Issues final steel erection and equipment drawings to the Project Manager for record.
- Provides concept drawings for inclusion with quotations.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 years’ experience in drafting or design.
- 1-2 years of experience using Tekla Structures.
- Experience with AISC/AWS drawing and detailing standards preferrable.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.
- Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferrable.
- Experience in producing shop and erection drawings for projects typical to the industries and projects provided by Hohl Industrial.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the industrial construction sector.
