Job Description

Opportunity within a supportive team to use and develop technical biodiversity knowledge, problem-solving, collaboration and outcome-focused skills to minimise risk to Victoria’s natural environment for communities, while supporting priority projects and programs in Victoria’s regions.

The Natural Environment Program Officer provides high quality environmental advice to support decision making for statutory environment related assessments and for the management of public land in line with DEECA business and operational priorities. The role combines technical biodiversity related knowledge with well-developed problem-solving, collaboration and outcome-focused skills to minimise risk to Victoria’s natural environment for communities, while supporting priority projects and programs in Victoria’s regions.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification related to natural resource management or other relevant field.
  • Understanding of public land management as it relates to forests and fires and mitigation of risks to threatened species.
  • Ability to apply environmental and biodiversity assessment processes, focused on biodiversity risk management, native vegetation policy, and related legislation.

This is a fixed term part time (0.6 FTE) position available for a period of 12 months. The work location for this position is flexible within the Hume Region with hybrid work arrangements available.
