Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related natural science and one year of experience investigating or analyzing pollution and/or environmental problems and developing solutions are required; or one year of experience as a Pollution Control Inspector 1 with Miami-Dade County is required. Must possess a Driver license.

Recruitment Notes

This position resides in the Air Quality Management Division. In the compliance group this position performs technical field work for Local, State, and Federal (Title V) air pollution control delegated programs and is involved in witnessing emissions tests, conducting sampling activities, reviewing emissions and tests reports, writing inspection reports, and registering all compliance activities in local and State databases. In the asbestos group this position conducts field inspections, reviews construction plans for renovation and demolition projects, interprets the Asbestos National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulations, deals directly with enforcement cases, and answers public and customer inquiries. The position offers continuous training with this Department, the FDEP, and EPA, and will receive Visible Emissions Testing training and secure the certification on an annual basis. The inspector, if assigned to the asbestos group will receive training and secure the annual certifications for Asbestos Inspector and Asbestos Contractor Supervisor, along with an extra 5% pay.
