As an Instructional Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in our educational environment, working closely with the lead teacher to deliver instructional and social-emotional support. You will also benefit from dedicated professional development sessions every Wednesday, tailored to enhance your instructional skills and track student progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to establish an engaging and supportive learning atmosphere for students.
  • Assist in executing lesson plans as a co-teacher or teaching assistant.
  • Provide additional support through one-on-one or small group sessions to reinforce learning objectives.
  • Uphold classroom rules and routines, fostering an environment conducive to scholarly behavior.
  • Support the lead teacher with administrative tasks and record-keeping responsibilities.
  • Lead small group and individualized instruction utilizing research-based interventions to meet student needs.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records of interventions.
  • Assist with implementing accommodations and supports for individual students.
  • Communicate with families, attending meetings as necessary to ensure student success.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions for students throughout the school day.
  • Assist with classroom preparations, lunch/recess supervision, and additional duties as assigned.
  • Substitute for the classroom teacher during meetings or professional development sessions as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of college coursework is required.
  • Experience working with children is essential.
  • A strong ability to collaborate effectively within a professional team is crucial.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality are necessary.
  • Flexibility and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is highly desirable.
  • Background in Early Childhood, Elementary, ESL, or Special Education is advantageous.
  • Bilingual candidates (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole) are encouraged to apply.
