What is the purpose of this role in delivery of our mission?
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the key function of this role is to ensure all accounting entries are recorded accurately – running Accounts Payable, through to performing our month and year end close for the Orbital Group. Our accounting software is Xero so experience with this package is preferred.
What are the key responsibilities / activities of the role?
- Ensuring all income and expenditure is correctly accounted for within a robust control environment
- Prepare weekly pay-runs
- Bank reconciliations
- Processing Invoices and recording expenses
- Reconciliation of inter-company accounts, including raising any inter-company charges
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Booking review ensuring entries are booked to the correct legal entity
- Assist with publishing timely monthly financial information and variance analysis
- Input to budgets and forecasts
- Assist with the year-end statutory accounts and audit
- Ad hoc project work as required by a growing business
What is the scope of accountability for the role?
- Prepare weekly pay runs
- Balance sheet reconciliation
- Bank reconciliations
- Ownership of key Legal Entities
What are the essential skills, qualifications and experience required for the role?
- Degree level education
- 3+ years of Management accounting experience
- Strong grounding in Accounts Payable
- Strong skills and experience with accounting software (particularly experience in Xero would be viewed favourably)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and Google Workspace
- Strong technical skills and financial reporting knowledge
- A love of data, technology and analytics.
- The ability to contribute individually, as well as part of the team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Able to communicate clearly and confidently both verbally and in writing with an international and diverse team
- Can work independently in a fast-paced start-up environment. Adaptability to change, comfortable with ambiguity and constant change, able to methodically work through complex problems, set priorities and execute against commitments
What are the desirable skills, qualifications and experience that would be beneficial for the role?
- Experience working with Cryptocurrencies would be viewed favourably
- Professional Qualification in Accounting viewed favourably
- Experience of Fintech industry
- Self-starter – able to approach other members of the business to proactively get answers to any questions you might have
