Job Description

IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy, is seeking a Research Fellow to join the Tumor Biology and Vascular Targeting Unit of the Division of Experimental Oncology. Long-term commitment of Tumor biology and vascular targeting Unit is to understand the role of inflammatory cytokines and chromogranin A in cancer biology, and to develop new strategies for cancer therapy based on the manipulation of the tumor vasculature with targeted cytokines and anti-angiogenic agents, in order to improve the penetration of chemotherapeutic drugs and the infiltration of cells of the immune system in tumor tissues.

The candidate will work on a project supported by the EU (TRANSCAN-3 JTC 2022) focused on glioblastoma, a type of brain tumor. Specifically, the project regards the development of novel translational approaches to tackle glioblastoma using peptide-cytokine fusion products in combination with new tumor targeted-nanomedicine, and the evaluation of their anti-tumor properties and mechanisms of action in in vitro and in vivo murine models.

Main responsibilities:

  • maintenance of cell cultures
  • flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry analysis
  • biochemical analyses (such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE, and WB)
  • in vivo drug efficacy studies in tumor-bearing mice
  • quantitative-RT PCR

The candidate we are looking for has the following skills:

  • highly motivated and interested in tumor biology and translational research
  • Master’s degree in biological sciences, biotechnology, or related disciplines. Doctoral degree is optional
  • skills in protein biochemistry, cell biology, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry
  • experience in, or willingness to learn, how to perform experiments in mice
  • research planning and organization skills
