Job Purpose (Significance Of The Role & Objectives)

The thermal engineer at PRAVAIG will be responsible for the design of the thermal system architecture, 1D and CFD simulation, and testing of the battery thermal system, HVAC, and powertrain cooling system.

Key Responsibilities And Deliverables

  • Define Battery thermal, HVAC system, and powertrain cooling system architecture.
  • Benchmark competitive thermal components, to define the functional target and engineering specifications
  • Support and interface with the team of Battery, powertrain, power electronics, vehicle integration, and body structure, to ensure thermal component packaging, installation, and optimise the functional environment.
  • Create a proof-of-concept demonstration for integrated thermal management systems
  • Work closely with suppliers on design evaluation and validation of the thermal components to meet product specifications and requirements
  • Coordinate and conduct hardware testing in the lab to verify and validate thermal management system hardware functionality and reliability
  • Develop and execute tests for analytic model verification to real-world results.
  • Manage simulation results and alignment with CAD (Computer Aided Design)
  • Provide input in creating component specifications, component DFMEA (DESIGN FAILURE MODE AND EFFECT ANALYSIS), and other technical design documents where analysis plays a vital role.
  • Highlight issues found and communicate to the testing team.

Desired Qualifications: Required Qualification, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s/ master’s in mechanical engineering, Applied Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 02 – 04 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong in Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Heat & Mass Transfer fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB and CFD codes.
  • Good working knowledge of refrigerant, coolant, airflow, and high-voltage components.
  • Hands-on experience with refrigerant components, coolant, airflow, sensors, valves, fluid transport component design, and high voltage components.
  • Working experience with automotive systems design, packaging, and assembly requirements.
  • Familiarity with analysis tools, such as MATLAB / Simulink and CFD tools.
  • Strong Knowledge of Battery Thermal, HVAC, and Powertrain Thermal Systems.
  • Familiarity with Functional Safety standards (ISO-26262).
  • Familiarity with DFMEA and PFMEA.
