Remote Lab Instructor/Director | WFH

We invite you to join our distinguished academic community as a Lab Director/Instructor for Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology labs in a remote capacity. This pivotal role is designed for individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional educational experiences and fostering academic excellence in science education. You will engage with students, mentor senior thesis projects, and take part in initiatives that promote science both on-campus and within the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Instruct Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology labs, ensuring curriculum integrity and academic rigor.
• Collaborate with faculty to design and enhance a variety of biology labs, contributing to course development.
• Oversee lab management, including the procurement and maintenance of equipment and supplies, while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
• Provide microbial cultures and agar plates to facilitate lab activities.
• Hire and supervise work-study students, along with undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants.
• Manage budgets, process invoices, and maintain precise records for lab resources.
• Engage in departmental initiatives aimed at the recruitment and retention of undergraduate biology majors.
• Mentor students through senior thesis projects, guiding their academic growth.
• Participate in community outreach efforts to promote science education through events such as science fairs and campus tours.

Required Skills

• Strong organizational skills for the effective management of lab materials, equipment, and student engagement.
• Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, to facilitate interaction with students, faculty, and the broader community.

Qualifications

• A B.S. degree in biological sciences, microbiology, physiology, or a closely related discipline.
• Relevant teaching experience at the high school or undergraduate university level is essential.
