R&D Engineer

• Strong Experience in drawing and model designing with CAD software such as Solidworks is required.
• Comfortable in spending significant time in the labs and using and/or learning tools, presses, ovens.
• Knowledge and experience in product development processes and design control is preferred.
• Experience in developing and executing Design of Experiments and test methods; statistical tool usage strongly preferred
• Experience with polymer based manufacturing and/or device design preferred
• Interest/aptitude in robot programming desired.
• Previous experience with mechanical testing and/or laboratory test method development desired
• In-depth knowledge of design of medical devices.
• Ability to be a technical leader on multi-functional teams
• Must possess strong communication skills, written and verbal
• Ability to solve complex problems
• Need to Travel as per the requirement.

Responsibilities

Roles & ResponsibilitiesUnder (e.g. limited supervision, general direction, etc.) and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

• Lead and or support early innovation / proof of concept development work.
• Develop 3D CAD models using Solidworks or similar CAD modelling platforms.
• With guidance from lead engineer, fabricate mechanical devices (silicone and non silicone), fixtures, and other prototypes in the R&D labs and or on the manufacturing floor.
• Help design, iterate and test prototypes. This includes documenting test results and communicating to the project team.
• Conduct research toward new product or process development or development toward improvement of existing products or process
• Apply knowledge of scientific and engineering principles to a broad range of assignments and contribute inventions, new designs, new processes and techniques to solve technical problems based on customer needs
• Extended responsibilities include programming custom robots and custom robotic spray booths.
• Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance
• Other duties and responsibilities as needed/assigned by the manager
