GWO members strive for an injury free work environment, setting common international standards for safety training and workforce development.

Standards help our industry work more efficiently and effectively. Last year, more than 170,000 technicians working within the wind industry received GWO certified training accessed from more than 550 third-party certified training providers throughout the world. GWO is on a path to expand this workforce significantly while creating a broader set of standards and frameworks, so we need your help.

How will you contribute to the development of safety training and workforce development?

GWOs strategy “Workforce ’26” comprises Must Win initiatives to lead the industry in Workforce Development and establish a leading position in the top 20 wind markets. The association has added resources and established two teams, Partnerships and Network Development & Communications and Engagement. The Communications and Engagement team has a vacancy for a manager, who will be responsible for a team of three.

You will play a key role in the GWO Secretariat, contributing with your professional competence and belief in high achievement. As our Head of Communication, you will lead the Communication and Engagement team, setting direction and overseeing the execution of GWO’s strategic communication plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction and coordinate the Communication & Engagement team as part of effective team leadership.
  • Develop communication and marketing strategy to support Must Win initiatives and operational needs.
  • Create and commission high quality content to engage audiences and convey key messages.
  • Oversee the organisation’s online presence and ensure globalwindsafety.org web platform is maintained to sufficient quality.
  • Develop and manage GWO CVI for internal/external use.
  • Promote compliance within Secretariat operations and external partners.
  • Support GWO’s People and Culture strategy with adequate communication resources.
  • Oversee the Event Manager within Communication & Engagement Team, to ensure satisfactory support and delivery of GWO online and in person events programme.
  • Manage relevant press and media relations activity.

A well-grounded individual with healthy values and excellent interpersonal skills. You know the importance of communicating constructively, and even when you do not know the answer to a question, you take the time to assist the person seeking an answer.

What we expect:

  • 5-8 years of relevant Corporate Communication or B2B Marketing experience, at least one year of which has involved people management.
  • Sector experience from energy industry or related vertical is desirable
  • Fluent in English (verbally and written)
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office
  • Master’s degree in communications, journalism or other relevant field
  • Relevant certifications or diplomas in the following areas of skill/competence are desirable:
  • Leadership and/or people management
  • Project Management
  • Media Relations/Journalism
  • Content Management/Web site management
  • Digital marketing
  • Customer Relationship Management
