Job Summary
Assists the administrator in the efficient operation of the nursing home. Offers recommendations and assistance to the administrator regarding the operations and activities of the nursing center.
Responsibilities And Duties
Support the facility’s philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals and objectives.
- Assist in creating an emotional and physical environment conducive to the best interests of the residents and staff.
- Reinforce house policies and ensure quality care services.
- Assist in acquiring qualified staff capable of carrying out the center’s objectives.
- Monitor accounts receivable. Work with third-party payers who affect our cash flow.
- Assist the department heads in maintaining and accounting for supplies.
- Perform daily rounds in the facility to assist with overall environmental control, including cleanliness, repairs and overall appearance are maintained.
- Facilitate and assist with the day-to-day operations of the nursing home including but not limited to: activities, meal service, payroll, receivables, etc.
- Assist with admission inquiries and intake procedures.
- Analyze complaints and take appropriate action to eliminate reoccurrence.
- Assist in the implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
- Promote public relations with community groups.
- Organize the weekend supervisors and the compensatory days due each department head for the weekends they worked.
- Attend admissions, Department Head, QA, and Medicare/Medicaid Pre-planning meetings, and others as assigned.
- Furnish information regarding residents only to authorized agencies or people.
- Follow established fire, disaster, safety, infection control, and evacuation policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the Administrator.
- Work as weekend Supervisor as part of Department head monthly rotation.
Qualifications And Skills
- Must be physically and mentally capable of performing routine job duties.
- Must be able to communicate the philosophy of the facility.
- Must possess the ability to make and carry out sound policies.
- Be personable with residents, families, and staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
- Must have compassion, tolerance, and understanding for the residents of the facility.
- Knowledge of JCAHO, OBRA, IDPH, and HFS standards and regulations.
