Job Title: Pediatric Advisor – Remote | WFH

Position Overview

Pending contract award, the Pediatric Advisor will deliver critical healthcare services to children in custody, operating under the supervision of the National Medical Director and in partnership with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with established policies and protocols while contributing significantly to the administrative aspects of medical services. The Pediatric Advisor will collaborate closely with the management team to guarantee the successful planning and execution of program directives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the on-site pediatric medical authority, overseeing and consulting on pediatric medical services at CBP locations, including ports of entry and Border Patrol stations.
  • Cultivate a supportive and compassionate atmosphere during interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Provide pediatric medical leadership and support to advanced practice providers, ensuring high standards of care delivery, including mental health support as necessary.
  • Ensure on-call pediatric coverage for assigned medical units, maintaining availability around the clock.
  • Oversee and coordinate all facets of pediatric healthcare delivery at designated facilities, including direct patient care when required.
  • Conduct age-appropriate screenings, treatments, and educational initiatives for pediatric patients with acute and chronic health issues.
  • Manage referrals to specialty services, ensuring appropriate follow-up and adherence to quality management standards.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and significant events, working in collaboration with medical leadership as needed.
  • Participate in national and local medical quality management committees, focusing on initiatives aimed at enhancing pediatric care.
  • Maintain precise medical documentation and ensure compliance with privacy regulations and organizational protocols.
  • Engage in continuous training and professional development to uphold licensure and enhance clinical skills.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in Pediatrics from an approved board is mandatory.
  • Possession of a current, valid, and unencumbered medical license in the United States.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved organization, with timely renewal prior to expiration.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited program.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an attending or independently practicing physician in a pediatric care setting.
