Job Summary

The Warehouse Accountant will be responsible for managing daily accounting transactions, stock balances, and the smooth functioning of accounting processes within the warehouse. This includes handling reports, inventory control, coordinating financial tasks, supporting budget monitoring, preparing revenue forecasts, maintaining compliance with tax laws, and providing support for audits. In addition, the Warehouse Accountant will assist in the development and implementation of accounting systems and procedures to streamline warehouse financial operations.

Job Duties And Tasks

  • Prepare and submit daily reports to the Inventory Supervisor.
  • Enter daily transaction data and ensure stock balances are reconciled.
  • Maintain control over goods in/out of the warehouse, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Monitor and report on warranty periods and expiration dates for stored goods.
  • Keep all warehouse financial documents organized and properly filed.
  • Oversee supply chain and inventory management activities from an accounting perspective.
  • Coordinate accounting functions with warehouse management and other departments.
  • Prepare detailed financial analyses and reports related to warehouse operations.
  • Contribute to preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditures for warehouse operations.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring, ensuring financial goals are met.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Support annual audit preparations and address any discrepancies or issues raised.
  • Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and non-compliance issues.
  • Prepare and file federal, state, local, and special tax returns related to warehouse operations.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
  • Handle any other accounting tasks as required and support junior accounting staff in their responsibilities.

Job Specifications

  • Minimum 3-6 years of experience in the accounting field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Familiarity with accounting software and systems.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and warehouse operations from an accounting perspective.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Experience with tax filing and audits is a plus.
