PlunketLine is our free, 24 hour, 7 day a week telehealth service providing support and health assessments to parents and caregivers of p?pi and tamariki under 5 years. We have two contact centres in Auckland and Wellington with Nurses in a variety of locations across the motu.
Te Whiwhinga mahi – The opportunity
As part of our PlunketLine leadership team and reporting to the PlunketLine Manager, you’ll be an effective leader of a team of Telehealth Nurses. This is a dynamic role where needs of the front line team will dictate the direction of your mahi and require you to adapt to the changing demands of your team. You will field clinical and operational escalations which will require problem solving, resilience and decision-making skills.
You’ll provide leadership and remove barriers so the team of Registered Nurses can consistently deliver quality service to the wh?nau we serve. You’ll guide each individual to reach their full potential through tailored coaching and feedback and build a high performing team through facilitating meaningful team hui where you communicate key messages, encourage healthy collaboration and celebrate successes.
This is a Monday – Friday role with daytime shifts however since our Nurses deliver an essential service 24/7, our Clinical Leaders also have an on call roster in case of any escalations (one weeknight each week, and every fifth weekend). Depending on the level of demand, you may also be required to take incoming calls from time to time.

Providing advice and direction to assist our nurses will require you to have a well-rounded clinical skillset with the ability to provide clinical reviews, and the confidence to make quality decisions.
You will bring prior experience in promoting a high performance environment through mentoring others and being a champion of change and innovation. Our changing world has meant that the majority of our team are working from home, so remote management brings added diversity to the role. We will be interested in understanding how you celebrate success, manage performance with your excellent relational and communication skills, and foster team cohesion in a virtual world.
You Will Also Be/have
- Current NZ Nursing Council Annual Practicing Certificate
- Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Health Care Specialty Nursing Well Child/Tamariki Ora, or a willingness to complete this if successful (we will pay for this)
- Excellent time management skills
- Able to make decisions based on data with a focus on supporting our equity journey.
