We are currently searching for an experienced CAD Designer to support our design of natural gas pipeline projects located in Lexington, KY. This position can be remote from the following areas: Ann Arbor, MI, Detroit, MI, Pittsburgh, PA, or Atlanta, GA.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Contribute to project production sheets by laying out plan, alignment, detail, and other sheets as necessary
  • Use various methodologies and/or techniques to accurately label and add notation to sheets
  • Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for pipeline/linear alignment projects
  • Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance
  • Research design options and documents findings
  • Work directly with engineers to understand project goals and scopes
  • Coordinates assignments with project team and supervisor
  • Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Work remotely across the company’s footprint of offices
  • Assist adjacent groups remotely on an as needed basis

What You Need To Have

  • Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D is a requirement, include years of experience associated and a reference contact for quality of work confirmation.
  • Must have natural gas pipeline experience
  • Safety oriented
  • Associate degree from a technical or four-year school
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).

  • Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field, preferred
