Examples of Duties

  • Completes comprehensive assessments and treatment planning and provides counseling services to clients.
  • Develops and implements complex treatment and discharge plans for clients with dual diagnoses, social or mental health issues.
  • Serves as professional resource to others in resolving complex case problems and may provide clinical supervision as needed.
  • Develops and may facilitate trainings for treatment staff.
  • Conducts counseling sessions for individuals, families and/or groups as needed. Updates records and files and prepares follow-up reports as appropriate.
  • In-depth knowledge of the effects of drugs prescribed by medical specialists
  • Monitor progress throughout the treatment plan
  • Collaborate on intervention plans with other mental health specialists, doctors, nurses, and social workers/case managers
  • Identify and prevent behaviors that impede recovery

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work or a related field required.
  • Must possess a current Indiana behavioral health license such as LCAC-A, LCAC, LSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMHC-A (independently licensed preferred)
  • At least 4 years clinical experience desired, with concurrent experience in the treatment of substance abuse and dual-diagnoses highly preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a corrections environment a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy, to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, read
  • Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data
  • Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises
