Location: Hong Kong

Job Summary:

The IP Manager will be responsible for overseeing and protecting the company’s intellectual property assets, particularly in the entertainment and sports sectors. This role involves developing and implementing IP strategies, ensuring compliance with local and international IP laws, and promoting the value of intellectual property within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement IP strategies tailored to the entertainment/sports industries.
  • Manage the registration and maintenance of patents, trademarks, and copyrights related to media, merchandise, and branding.
  • Conduct IP audits to identify potential risks and opportunities within the organizations portfolio.
  • Provide legal advice on IP issues, including licensing agreements, infringement, and enforcement matters.
  • Collaborate with marketing, legal, and creative teams to ensure effective IP management and commercialization of content.
  • Monitor industry trends and changes in IP legislation to inform strategic decisions.
  • Represent the company in IP-related disputes and negotiations.
  • Educate and train staff on IP best practices, especially regarding media and brand protection.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Law, Business, or a related field; a Masters degree or equivalent IP qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IP management or legal practice, ideally within the entertainment or sports sectors.
  • Strong understanding of local and international IP laws and regulations, with a focus on copyright and trademark issues.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple projects.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in IP management software and databases.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin is a MUST
