Manager of Compliance and QC

Job Description

Duties: Management of compliance and quality control functions of residential mortgage lender.

Compliance duties

  • Analyzing and providing advice regarding legal and regulatory implications of loan scenarios, particularly with respect to
  • Consumer lending regulations such as TILA, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA and FCRA
  • Fair lending
  • State and federal consumer lending disclosures
  • GLB and other privacy laws
  • BSA/AML requirements and
  • Consumer marketing practices and advertising content
  • Testing and reporting on compliance of lending operations
  • Monitoring of legal, regulatory and investor guideline changes and working with business operations to implement compliance with new requirements
  • Coordination of 3rd party regulatory and investor exams and requests for information
  • Maintenance and updating of policies and procedures
  • Coordination of mandatory employee compliance training

Quality control duties

  • Pre-closing and post-closing testing for loan quality and adherence to underwriting guidelines of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA and private lenders
  • Review of loans in default or for which repurchase is requested
  • Consulting with operations staff regarding red flags indication fraud or misrepresentation

Qualifications

  • Experience. At least 5 years’ experience with residential mortgage underwriting and compliance. Two or more years’ management experience.
  • Skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, mortgage loan origination systems and consumer lending QC and compliance software. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Expertise. Ability to manage at strategic level, supervise employees on day-to-day basis and perform individual tasks—to see both the forest and the weeds. Ability to read and interpret consumer regulations. Strong attention to detail. Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize effectively in fast-paced work environment.
  • Education. Prefer 4-year college degree. Prefer compliance and/or QC certifications.

Physical requirements: The job requires working on a computer for approximately 8 hours per day; responding to emails and telephone calls and leading virtual meetings.
