Position Summary
Being a part of the Wig Shop means working under the Wig Shop Lead to bring the Hair and Makeup Design to life on stage in the middle of the gorgeous red rocks of Padre Canyon.
As the wig shop assistant lead, you would be responsible for helping to lead the wig shop to alter and style all the wigs per the designs from the Wig designer for every cast member. The paperwork you help the lead create and keep updated, like wig style manuals, is essential for the wig shop and hair and makeup run crews to do their jobs. You may be asked to do a variety of tasks, depending on what is the biggest need at the moment to ensure overall success. You fill in for the Wig Shop Lead as needed when the lead is out or unavailable in a meeting.
Required Skills
- Cutting, washing, blocking, roller setting, and styling of wigs
- Ventilating and re-fronting wigs
- Wig Repair
- Use and care of all tools needed for wig creation, altering, styling, and etc. (ventilating hooks, wig dryers, wig heads, steamers, etc.)
- Wig identification/cataloging
- Working knowledge of hand and machine stitching techniques for wigs
- Demonstrable knowledge of/and experience in a variety of wig styles and maintenance techniques
- Paperwork creation, including but not limited to: Wig style guides, Wig Manual (“bible”), Wig show lists
- Ability to teach/guide wig shop personnel in all of the above
- Helping to lead and maintain a professional wig shop work environment
- Organization, time management/project planning
- Communicating clearly with others
- Google suite (Drive, docs, sheets, etc.)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work outside in a desert climate (though our build facilities are located indoors)
- Ability to listen, take instruction, and to participate in a team to complete the assigned tasks
- Ability to lift 20 lbs
- Ability to work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all times

- Clean and maintain all spaces daily
- Ability to work outside in a desert climate (though our build facilities are located indoors)
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of professional wig and theatre experience
- Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and maintain a safe work environment
Bonus Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional wig and theatre experience
- Cosmetology license

$25.00 /hour
