Job Description
- Function as the center budget/business officer manager with full financial operations responsibilities, including managing institutional petty cash, handling requests for printing, and vendor services.
- Responsible for maintaining and processing all inmates new hires, including job setup, weekly deductions, payroll, and job terminations.
- Responsible for completing and providing receipts and pay stubs for weekly payroll from work center employers, setting up and maintaining inmate accounts, including the job summary and authorized deduction screen, and processing and tracking all authorized deductions from inmate accounts as required by law and SCDC policy, including child support, victim restitution, and medical expenses.
- Must compile, account for, and file all business office financial transactions and receipts according to current policy.
- Must develop systems to ensure inmates turn in all payroll checks and are paid for all hours worked and counsel inmates on financial matters and individual budgets which includes responding to all ARTSM-OMS inquiries from inmates via the kiosk.
- Expected to reconcile and balance receipt books and deposit registers weekly and make deposits and manage inmate accounts related to allowances, canteen limits, and EH cooper.
- Responsible for auditing all institutional special fund accounts quarterly and inmate work release accounts in preparation for the annual business office audit as well as maintaining all expendable supplies for the facility.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC basic training upon hire.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
- A high school diploma with two (2) years of clerical experience;
OR
- A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the work experience.
May be required to have experience in CRT and/or personal computer.
